It all began in the thirties'. The Bertin family business then only comprised one single oysters pond and a small wooden shack in which our grand-father and his wife detached oysters from their cluches, sorted them out, sailing to get them in any weather conditions and tides, only living from the products of this farming and selling oysters further for dispatching and commercialisation.
The family business is running well, even sailing at times against currents and through stumbling blocks, well adapting to the evolving changes of the profession.
One has to wait until 1975 to find Bertin Michel oysters on shops' stands.
This is the beginning of the "adventure"
From now on, the business has steadily continued to grow: oysters beds, fattened oysters in ponds, boats, ground installations, personnel.
Bertin Michel and sons oysters represent today:
15 hectares of oyster beds
9 hectares of ponds for fattening of oysters
12 full-time employees
50 seasonal employees for the Christmas season
Bertin Oysters means: A know-how increasingly sharpened and as refined as our oysters, a sense of high quality so that our oysters are but a pure delight for your eyes and palate.
